On March 1, elementary teachers at the EA Girls’ School kicked off the month with a “Hats Off to Reading” campaign. Each week, students are encouraged to spend some time reading in the evening, tracking their progress on weekly worksheets. Completed worksheets are turned in each Friday and students receive a special book mark. Also on Fridays in March, students are wearing hats to show their enthusiasm for reading, with special reading time allocated during the day. This first week, students got to bring in stuffed animals to read with. Next Friday, students will experience reading by “flashlight”, and on the last Friday of the month, classes will swap teachers for a special activity. Reading is fun at Everest!
