Mountaineer Money Tree’s EA Banking Program Ends Successful Year
Mrs. Amanda Maxin, teacher for 5G and the advisor for this year’s EA banking program, reports the second year of Everest students banking with Clarkston State Bank has come to a close.
Mrs. Maxim advises the team of 5th grade girls who this year call themselves the “Mountaineer Money Tree.” The team oversees the banking program for participating students. The team received certificates for their participation and celebrated with a pizza party to wrap up a successful year.
Mrs. Maxim said that, although the program is overseen by 5th grade girls, any Everest student can participate by creating a savings account through the local bank. Part of the banking program involves an incentive to make deposits into student bank accounts — they receive a contest entry into the year-end drawing.
This year’s prize was a swimming party sponsored by Goldfish Swim Pool, valued at 450 dollars. And the winner was one of the 5th grade “bankers,” Gwen Zych. Congratulations! She will get a free party for 24 people, including two-hour access to the swimming pool.
“The banking program will be back again next year,” said Mrs. Maxim. “I will be looking for five new 5th graders to run the program!”
