Congratulations to Everest 8th grade student, Caitlin Quinn, and the Lakes/Everest High School FRC robotics team. (The team is comprised of Caitlin plus students from Waterford Our Lady of Lakes.) They competed, with their robot, Jimmy (who stands 5 feet tall and weighs just under 100 lbs) in their first ever FRC competition this weekend with 40 other high school teams. The Lakes/Everest team finished the round robin portion as the highest-ranked rookie team!
They competed in the “Aerial Assault” game, a fast-paced competition played on a field similar to a volleyball court. The robots, and sometimes human players, throw and pass two 24-inch balls (with the occasional velocity of a firing cannon) through goals to earn points. Jimmy played strong defense to help the team win the tournament.
The Lakers/Everest Robotics FRC team is scheduled to compete next in the Troy District tournament on April 4 and 5. Please mark your calendars and come out and support team as they work to qualify for the State Championship!
