Next week, March 5, 2014, begins the season of Lent — a time of prayer, penance, reflection and fasting to prepare us to remember Christ’s Passion and Death on Good Friday and celebrate His Resurrection on Easter Sunday, this year on April 20.
Everest will celebrate Mass and ashes will be distributed on that Wednesday. The Mass for the Academy will take place at 8:30 am in the respective school chapels, and at 12:45 pm for the high school students. (The EC Mass time has been changed from the normal 10:05 am due to some students taking the Michigan Merit Exam.)
Everest will hold special events every Friday of Lent through April 11. A Family Fish Fry will take place in the Boys’ School Cafeteria and the Blue Gym from 5 to 7 pm. The fish dinner will include a choice of sides, including french fries, au gratin potatoes, broccoli, coleslaw and clam chowder. Prices will be $8.00 for adults, $7.00 for seniors, $5.00 for children age 14 and under, and free for children ages 3 years and younger. The family price is $35.00.
Fish Fry dinner events will be followed by the Stations of the Cross devotion in the Boys’ Chapel at 7 pm.
