Patrick Lowney will be taking on the head coaching responsibilities for the varsity boys’ basketball team for the Mountaineers for the 2013-2014 year. Former head coach Ann Lowney will remain on the staff as Patrick’s assistant coach along with Sam Bellestri, who has also been an assistant coach with the program since 2009.
Pat will be a coach who inspires athletes with his passion for the game and his strong Catholic values. As a coach for the Mountaineers, Pat will continue to instill in his players the school motto “Semper Altius” which focuses the student athletes to push themselves to “Always be Higher.”
Pat has served as an assistant coach for the Mountaineers under Ann Lowney since the 2010-2011 season, and had been the middle school 7th and 8th grade boys’ basketball head coach prior to taking on the role of assistant coach.
Pat brings a vast array of coaching experience to the program, including 20 years as the JV basketball coach at Marian High School and has been the head coach of many AAU basketball teams for over 15 years. In 2011 Pat was inducted into the Catholic High School League (CHSL) Hall of Fame for his distinguished career as a basketball coach in the Catholic High School League (CHSL). “I’m so happy to hear that Pat Lowney is going to coach the varsity basketball team at Everest,” said fellow Hall of Fame coach from Marian, Mary Lillie Cicerone. “Pat has coached basketball at many levels with much success. Pat is a great basketball technician and wonderful with high school kids. Pat played a huge role in the success of the Marian basketball program. He helped us win three State Championships and two State Championship Runner-Up titles. I know Pat will have a lot of success at Everest.”
