Claire Kitz attends Harvard Leadership Summit; Alabama names Sam Bellestri Outstanding Chemistry Student
EC Junior Claire Kitz participated in a once in a lifetime opportunity in July, attending a Leadership Summit at Harvard University as part of the Dwight D. Eisenhower People to People Ambassador Program with other high school students. Claire said it was an amazing experience to be with students from literally all over the globe: Fiji, Nigeria, France, China, Bulgaria, Lebanon, Germany (to name a few countries), and of course the United States. The exciting schedule was filled with leadership presentations, motivational speakers, team building exercises, sporting events, boat rides, service projects, dinners, and tours of MIT, Harvard University, the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library, and historic Boston.
Everest Collegiate Boys’ High School valedictorian for 2012, Sam Bellestri, was recently honored by the University of Alabama where he is attending on scholarship. He was named outstanding chemistry student during a ceremony in the 2013 spring semester. Only four students received such awards out of over 4000, putting Sam in the top 0.1%. He was asked by the University of Alabama to choose a teacher who was influential in his high school career, and he named Everest Collegiate chemistry and physics teacher Laura Smith!
