There was a lot of excitement involving the EC-OLL athletic teams this weekend.

This past Saturday the EC-OLL Everest girl’s soccer team won their third straight Catholic League Championship against Allen Park Cabrini 6-0. It was a great game where every girl on the team got to participate in the win. Senior Ava Doetsch scored two goals, along with senior Jessica Parry, junior Lindsay Straw, and freshman Alex Troy. We had a great showing in the first half by junior Megan Luttinen in goal and junior Lucia Westrick in the second half. Lucia saw a bit more action and handled herself very well under the pressure.

The team is looking forward to a big crowd to cheer them on against Bishop Foley in the first round of district play next Tuesday, May 28th at 4:30pm at  Everest. This is a really big game and we would love to see everyone come out to support the team!  Click HERE for an article (and video) in the MI Prep Zone and HERE For an article in Student and Athlete.

In Tennis, freshman Carly Sutkewicz won the MHSAA Division 4 number one singles championship defeating the number one singles player from eventual team champion Academy of Sacred Heart 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 to become the first tennis player in EC history to advance to the state finals.  Carly will represent Everest in Kalamazoo in June.  Also finishing strong for the Mountaineers was number two singles player, sophomore Emma Dietz.  Dietz advanced all the way to the regional championships.  The team finished in third place.  To read more about last Friday’s events click HERE.
