Everest Collegiate girls serve the homeless in Detroit

Monica Lee, Angela Cunningham, Natalie Hickein and Becca Blackwell took a day to serve the homeless in Detroit.

Teaming up with Sr. Judy Ann from St. Jospeh (Detroit) they made 150 lunches for the homeless and then served them. Driving in Sister’s minivan, they brought them to abandoned buildings and parking lots where the homeless were trying to keep dry since it was raining.

Passing out paperbag lunches from the car window was a meaningful experience for Monica especially. “I felt like I wanted to cry because they were so grateful for something so small-a bagged lunch.”

After we were finished we attended St. Josephat for noon Mass. There we put all our intentions and the people we met at Our Lord’s feet in the Eucharist.
