The freshman history class is learning about the Mongolian culture. Mrs. Hearn had the GREAT idea to take her students to Mongolian BBQ, to bring what they learned in the classroom to life. Below is an article by Logan McCarthy, a JRN Club Student and video and pictures by Kersten Engle and Shannon DeSalle, who are also JRN Club students. ENJOY!
On Monday, March 14th, 2011, the freshmen girls headed to Mongolian BBQ and spent a couple hours there, trying the food and doing the Mongol speeches we had prepared in class. All of us had an enjoyable experience and I would definitely go back. Here are some people who were willing to tell us what food they ordered:
Shannon – Chicken, noodles, egg, and broccoli. Shannon said that her meal was very delicious.
Kimmy – Chicken, pork, ham, green peppers, pineapple, tomatoes, and teriyaki sauce. Kimmy said that her meal was awesome.
Logan – Sausage, egg, chicken, rib eye, bean sprouts, broccoli, carrots, garlic, and dill. My meal was absolutely fantastic.
Kersten – Shrimp, chicken, rib eye, New York strip, egg, carrots, mushrooms, and teriyaki sauce. Kersten said that her meal was really good, especially the tortilla wrap with rice.
After we ate we said our Mongol speeches. We had Mongol warriors, to Mongol nobles, to Chinese bureaucrats. We had a lot of fun and it ended up being a great way to spend some of the school day.
If you have never been to Mongolian BBQ, I suggest that you try it out. I had a good experience and hope that you do to.
