Blessing the Baby Jesus Tradition

EA students hold blessed images of Baby Jesus.

Bless the Baby Jesus is a tradition followed at Christmas time in the Vatican, started by Pope Paul VI in 1969 at St Peter’s Square in Rome. Families bring their figure of the Baby Jesus to the square to be blessed by the Pope during his Sunday Angelus address. Since we cannot all be in Rome for this special blessing, Everest has adopted this tradition to remind us Jesus is the center and reason for the Christmas season. The blessed image of Jesus reminds us of His presence in our homes and helps us celebrate more profoundly the joyful moment Jesus entered our world.
