Of Santa Hats and Gingerbread Men
To round out 2013, Everest Academy students participated in lots of activities to celebrate the season.
On Thursday, December 12, Independence Village in Oxford was pleased to host our third grade girls who sang Christmas carols as part of an apostolic project. Wearing Santa hats, and with smiles on their faces, the girls sang several Christmas favorites to the audience and served them refreshments. The residents were reportedly very impressed by the appearance, manners, and beautiful voices of our Everest girls. The third graders had a wonderful time getting to know the seniors at the center and creating beautiful memories in the process. To finish their visit, the girls decorated a Christmas tree in the center’s lobby with ornaments that they made for the residents. The third graders were thrilled to be able to bring the spirit of Christmas to the Oxford community!
Also on Thursday, December 12, Miss Farnsworth’s Kindergarteners presented The Gingerbread Kid Caper performance, in which a gingerbread man escapes from the oven and breaks all of the school’s rules. Students came up with a solution to bring him back by baking more gingerbread man cookies. Mrs. Farnsworth said the students “worked very hard” to memorize their lines as well as several songs. “I am very proud of my students!” she exclaimed.
