Everest Academy Victorious on the Grid Iron!

It was a great Sunday at Everest Academy this weekend, the weather was beautiful and the action on the football field was even better. The afternoon started with the Mountaineers 7/8 grade Football team beating Monroe St. Mary’s 24-0. The Mountaineers were led by Eighth grader Alex Legg. Legg ran for two touchdowns and threw for his third score of the day. He completed that pass to seventh grader Kamran Nallamothu. Eighth grader Ivan Yanez kicked 3 extra points for the Mountaineers.

Legg was also a terror on the defensive side of the ball leading the team in tackles, while seventh grader Luke Luttinen had an interception. The defensive line stood tall all day and was led by seventh grader Nick Korns and eighth grader Gunther Schultz who kept pressure on the QB all afternoon.

The second game of the afternoon featured the 4/5/6 grade team. The younger Mountaineers beat Holy Family #2 of Rochester 29-14. The Mountaineers 6th grade running back trio of Nino Mastromatteo, Brendan Barker and Kevin Meehan were all able to cross into the end zone with the pigskin for touchdowns. Three of the teams extra points were kicked for the first time this season by Jose Miguel Contro.

The defense recorded a fumble recovery and was led by Josh Legg, Mike Nardone and Blake Kosin who all had some big tackles on the day. The win moves their record to 4-2 overall and 3-1 in the Division.

Both teams take the field again here at Everest this coming Saturday October 6th at 12pm & 2pm against Allen Park Cabrini so come on out and support our Mountaineers!!
