EC Girls as Docents at Detroit Historical Museum

The Michigan History girls participated in their final docent project at the Detroit Historical Museum. All six girls, although anxious at first, did very well. Throughout the day they spoke with about 80 3rd graders from a Royal Oak elementary school. Each girl chose a portion of the museum that they were interested in and then they led the tour for that part. We have had some really great feedback, not only from the girls themselves, but also from the museum staff and regular volunteer docents who were there as a safety net for the girls (they didn’t even need them!).

“I am very proud of the girls and can’t wait for the boys to have their turn this spring. I would like to send a special thank you to the staff at the museum, especially Tobi Voight who helped me put this whole project together, and Roseanne Jamison who is the volunteer coordinator.” Mrs. Hearn, EC History Teacher.
